Team Puma! The Benefits to Dating Younger

While, recently, some challenges between Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have surfaced, it that doesn’t mean that all relationships with a significant age gap are doomed. I have seen all types of couples in my lifetime. Pairs that I thought would never stick it out are happily thriving, whereas pairs that I thought would be together forever turned out to be hardly a blip on the radar. And what’s more, many of the successful couples subscribed to the “age is just a number” mentality-to the tune of 15 or 20 years difference!
A common concern in relationships like this is that the older person may not be able to “keep up with” his or her younger partner. But, for people that take care of themselves, and who are probably more likely to attract a younger mate, it’s hardly an issue. Furthermore, we all know there are plenty of pharmaceutical aids for men and women, just in case. As a nurse, I have seen 30-year olds that looked 80, and 50-year olds that looked 25! (You can bet I was jealous of those 50-year olds. I can only hope to look that good at that age!) All this just proves that age really isn’t the issue that people want to believe that it is. It’s not about how old your are, it’s about how young you feel.
Honestly, isn’t it more important to have a genuine connection with somebody than to do what seems acceptable according to normative social standards? What makes you happy is always what’s most important. Sometimes that might mean being single, other times that might mean casually dating, and yet other times that might mean being in a relationship with someone 25 years younger. Maybe that person is a better match than the people you have met that are your age or maybe it’s refreshing to be around someone that has a different perspective on life.  If the relationship is beneficial for both people, then why mess with a good thing?
So, team puma, it’s time to get out there, and show those younger folks what we are made of. I know plenty of younger people that can’t keep up with me, and I am sure there are others that are the same way.  Don’t let age stand in your way; it might be the best thing you ever did!
