A Red Carpet  to Remember

The 87th Annual Academy Awards came and went and certainly made a fashion statement.

Hollywood’s biggest stars graced the red carpet with the best of high-class fashion by world-famous designers. From conservative up-dos to plunging necklines, the stars brought everything from classic Hollywood to modern sex appeal. A few standouts certainly warrant mention as they epitomized the glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night of the year.

Among those who really hit it on the carpet was Margot Robbie in a classy yet sexy black Saint Laurent dress with a dazzling statement necklace. Along with her simple side-swept bob, the look has earned Robbie a spot atop most Oscars Best Dressed lists. Another star at the center of Oscar fashion discussions is Lupita Nyong’o’s Calvin Klein dress made from over 6,000 individual pearls.

High on the fashion watchlist was Jennifer Lopez who had viewers and fashion analysts in eager anticipation to see how she would make a statement on yet another red carpet. She opted for a tan Elie Saab gown with a plunging neckline and beaded embellishment that added sparkle down to its tulle skirt. Also in an Elie Saab gown was Birdman star Emma Stone who brought color to the carpet in a chartreuse dress with a long slit. Huffington Post has recognized Stone as best dressed of the night.

Also worthy of a mention for their red carpet looks were, winner of Best Actress for her role in Still Alice and Reese Witherspoon, who presented. Moore looked stunning in a white Chanel Haute Couture dress that was modest and glamorous with a few black embellished stripes. Witherspoon also opted for black and white. She chose a simple white Tom Ford gown with a flattering black shoulder stripe and slimming waistline accent.

Hollywood’s leading men brought class and style to the red carpet as well. Winner of Best Actor for his work in The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne looked hot in his perfectly-tailored deep blue Alexander McQueen suit. Hot on his tail for best dressed man was leading man and fellow English actor Benedict Cumberbatch in a classic Hollywood white blazer and black trousers ensemble.

There is no doubt this year’s Oscars celebration was a night full of eye-catching glamour. Hollywood’s most-watched stars made viewers and fashion critics proud with their show of old Hollywood sophistication and bold modern statement gowns.
